An ending and a beginning...

As the Summer Holidays come to an end, we are getting ready to throw open our doors again on Wednesday 4th September and we can't wait to see our friends again and welcome some new faces. We also wish those who are starting school all the very best of luck - we will miss you!

At the end of last term we enjoyed creating artwork to enter into the local shows. We won first place with our seaside-themed entry to the Liskeard Show and our Little Owls Baby and Toddler Group won some rosettes for their sea creature creations at the Pengover, Merrymeet and Menheniot Show. Great stuff!

We made the most of the hot weather in July with a trip to Looe. Dressed in our beach finery and slathered in sun cream from top to toe, we caught the train from Liskeard station and began our journey. As soon as our train arrived on the platform at Looe we marched directly to the beach and set up camp at the water's edge ready for some splashing and sandcastle making. We enjoyed a picnic lunch on the beach before it was time to head back to the station. We found a shady spot on the platform to enjoy some ice lollies while we waited for our train. A great day was had by all!

The following week we had our Graduation and Fun Day on the cricket field, which was great fun! We began by presenting our friends who are starting school in September with a customised t-shirt and a group photo to remind them of all their friends at Menheniot Playgroup. We gave them a big cheer because they're fab and then we commenced the fun and games! Lots of activities had been set up on the field including a flour maze, football, hula hoops, hurdles and... a paddling pool full of water and some water pistols! We had great fun getting the grown-ups and each other soaking wet!

Our Little Owls Baby and Toddler group will start again on Tuesday 10th September in The Old School. The group meets every Tuesday during term time from 1:30 until 3pm. Bring along your little ones, from bump to pre-schoolers, and enjoy an abundance of toys, books, crafts, a healthy snack for the little ones and a hot drink for you. The cost is £2 per family.

And finally... we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who collected and brought in crisp packets and Hovis bread bags to us. At the end of last term we sent off five kilos for recycling, which is fantastic. We are continuing to collect them so please keep bringing them in - any brand of crisp packet, but just Hovis bread bags please.
