Christmas fun at Menheniot Playgroup

What a busy end to the Autumn term we had at Menheniot Playgroup!

The festive season started with an evening of warmth and festive cheer as the hugely popular annual Christmas Craft & Gift Fayre was held, once again, in St Lalluwy's Church on 22nd November, raising funds for our playgroup.

Visitors were spoilt for choice with a vast number of stalls selling a collection of unique and handcrafted gifts, artisan foods, jewellery, books and much more from a range of local businesses.

The pop-up cafe serving soup, savoury foods, cakes and hot drinks also went down very well and the festive atmosphere was enhanced by enchanting music played by our local handbell ringers. Huge thanks to Kerrie and her helpers for organising and running the event and to the church for allowing us, once again, to hold it in such a beautiful setting.

Just a few weeks later it was time for the children to perform in their eagerly anticipated Winter Production! This year it took place in the Parish Hall on 5th December and featured some very energetic dancing, hopping, jumping, clapping

and merriment, as well as a variety of costume changes! The children and staff worked so hard rehearsing over many weeks to give such a fantastic and entertaining performance that was very much enjoyed by all who watched and participated. Bravo!

On 17th December the children visited Pennywell Farm where they got the chance to join the Pennywell animals in re-enacting the Nativity! All the favourite carols rang out as the children joined other schools to take centre stage dressed as angels, shepherds, stars, kings, innkeepers and of course Mary and Joseph.

Afterwards everyone had the chance to play and explore the farm. The trip was rounded off with a special visit to see Father Christmas. As you can imagine, there were a lot of excited and very tired little ones by the end of the day when they all piled onto the coach back to Menheniot.

Trips like this, and all the toys and equipment the children use, are paid for by fundraising activities run by the Playgroup committee and volunteers throughout the year and none of it would be possible without the generosity of those who support our events so a huge thank you!

The new term is now underway and playgroup has been turned into a circus where the children have been learning circus skills and doing lots of singing and dancing to The Greatest Showman. Our Little Owls baby and toddler group has also started again. It takes place in the Old School every Tuesday during term time from 1:30 to 3pm and costs just £2 per family.

There are still spaces, including funded places, for little ones aged 2, 3 and 4 to join us at this outstanding village pre-school. Drop in or give us a call on 01579 346255 or visit www.menheniotplaygroup.co.uk.
