What do you need to bring?

  • Hard soled slippers

  • Appropriate clothing, children do get messy!

  • Change of clothes and additional pants etc during potty training (we do have spares)

  • Wellies

  • Coat and/or jumper appropriate to the weather

  • Drinks bottle

  • Lunch if staying (please make sure you do not pack any food containing nuts as we are a nut free setting)

  • Nappies/baby wipes

  • Please ensure everything is clearly marked with your child's name.

What to do on arrival

A member of staff will be at the door to greet you as you arrive. On arrival you will need to find a peg and hang up your children's bag and coat. There is a board of sticky names and we encourage the children to find their own name and put it above their peg. Lunch boxes can be placed on the windowsill above the pegs and any items that need to go into the fridge during hotter weather will be taken out by staff. Drinks bottles go in with your child and are placed in the yellow tray. Please ensure your child has put on their slippers before they go into the playroom. If the entrance hall is congested please bring your child into the playroom and change shoes inside to allow more space. Should the children be going straight outside a member of staff will let you know and they can keep their shoes on. On the right hand toilet door there is a sign in sheet. Please find your child's name and add the time they were dropped off. Please note: Things have been a little different since the pandemic and children are currently met by a member of staff at the gate outside and helped by a member of staff to hang up their coats etc.

Snack time

We offer the children a snack in the morning which usually consists of a bread stick/crackers and a piece of fruit or veg (such as apple and cucumber). We like to encourage the children to cut the snack and help themselves and then the children are offered milk or water as well. The children's drinks bottles are always made available to them. Lunch for any children staying is eaten at 12.15pm all together.

Open door

Menheniot Playgroup has an open door policy. If you want to talk to your child's key worker at any point please see them at drop off/pick up to arrange a meeting. A list of the children's key workers is next to the sign in sheet in the hallway. Also if you feel your child may need a slow introduction to the setting we are more than happy to accommodate this, please speak with the Playgroup Leader Emma Grange.

Facebook

Menheniot Playgroup has two facebook pages: One for general use and enquiries and the other for parents only. When your child starts with us, please add yourself to the parents only page for approval. The staff will regularly add photos and videos of any group activities the children are doing. This gives a really lovely insight into what your children are up to without you while being restricted to parents or carers only. The committee will also post regular updates and details on fundraising.

Tapestry

We use the Tapestry Online Learning Journal where your child's key worker will keep you informed of your child's progress and development as well as sharing photos of what they've been up to over the past week. Once your child has settled in you will be given access to Tapestry where you can view their observations and assessments. Please speak with a member of staff to get a set up link and register with this service.

Invoices

If you are just using funded hours you will not receive an invoice from playgroup, instead you will fill out a funding form via the playgroup leader on a termly basis. If you are paying for all or any of your child's sessions you will be sent an invoice by email at the start of each month and payment is expected by the end of the month. If you have not received your invoice by email by the 7th of the month please let a member of staff know or email menheniotpg@gmail.com
